Upgrading Teamcenter when NX is upgraded

When NX is upgraded to the next version, the property policy files in Teamcenter also need to be upgraded. These files enable Teamcenter Integration for NX to work correctly. The upgrade must be performed with every release of NX, including maintenance releases.

To upgrade Teamcenter, copy the property policy files from the NX installation directory %UGII_BASE_DIR%\ugmanager\NXManager*.xml to the Teamcenter directory %TC_DATA%\soa\policies.

This update can only be done by the Teamcenter administrator who has privileges to update the %TC_DATA% directory.

If you do not copy the policy files, the following error occurs during NX startup and you cannot launch NX until the policy files are copied:

SOA: Failed to find property file(s). See log file.
Environment variable for running SSL

If you are running Teamcenter Integration in the Teamcenter Secure Socket Layer (SSL) environment, set the following environment variable before running NX. Set the variable to the same certificate file that is used for Teamcenter SSL setup. Ensure you use the fully qualified host name in the URL for the connection.

If you do not set this environment variable, you get an initialization error when starting NX.

For additional information, see the Teamcenter Security Services Installation/Customization guide, Configuring Security Services section.

Viewing Solid Edge files in NX

Only Solid Edge part files (.par) can be viewed in NX. Solid Edge sheet metal files (.psm) and assembly files (.asm) cannot be viewed in NX.

The preference to set for viewing non-NX file types (Solid Edge and others) is the Teamcenter preference TC_NX_Foreign_Datasets.

TC Information column in Assembly Navigator

The TC Information column enables concurrent design among collaborating team members. It indicates in the current session if a newer version of a part is available in Teamcenter, or if a different revision of a part is available due to a different revision rule. You then decide whether to include the updates.

To use the TC Information column with a different revision rule:

  1. Set a revision rule in the Assembly Load Options dialog box and load the assembly.

  2. Set a new revision rule.

  3. Right-click on a column and select Refresh Teamcenter Information. The TC Information column shows the new revisions/versions that are available, which is the difference between loading the assembly using the revision rule in step 1 and the revision rule in step 2.

  4. Choose File→Close→Close and Reopen Selected Parts. The Reopen Part dialog box is pre-populated with the newer revisions/versions that were reported in the TC Information column.
